Violinist, composer, and conductor Gregory Abrell made his professional solo debut in 2005 with the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Ravel's Tzigane, followed by a repeat performance with Symphony North.
Mr. Abrell was formerly a founding member of the Neave String Quartet, which has been named Young Artist Quartet in Residence for the Lyrica Chamber Music Series, as well as Ambassadors of Chamber Music at the Longy School of Music. With them, he has also performed for the New England Chamber Music Foundation, and taught and performed at the International Chamber Music Institute at St. Mark's Academy. Festival appearances include Lyricafest Chamber Music Festival, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar at Stanford, the Steinhardt Intensive Quartet Workshop at NYU, and Wintergreen Summer Music Festival.
Mr. Abrell graduated from Longy School of Music, in the Boston area, where he studied violin and viola performance with Laura Bossert, and composition with Howard Frazin. Principal teachers include Laura Bossert, Andrzej Grabiec, Zachary Carrettin, and Kim Barrett. Mr. Abrell has been coached chamber music by William Preucil, Pamela Frank, Joseph Kalichstein, Terry King, and members of the Emerson, Ying, St. Lawrence, Brentano, Pacifica, and Borromeo String Quartets.
